Rural Sanitary Authority, minutes

From 1872 to 1894 the Board of Guardians constituted the Rural Sanitary Authority for those parishes in the Union which were outside the borough of Cardiff and had no Local Board of Health (a Local Board was formed in Penarth in 1875, and in Cadoxton-juxta-Barry in 1888). The Rural Sanitary Authority was responsible for sewerage and water supplies, control of nuisances and other public health matters. In 1895, rural sanitary authorities were replaced by rural district councils, following the Local government Act of 1894; the Cardiff Union Rural Sanitary Authority was replaced by the Llandaff and Dinas Powys Rural District Council.
