Records relating to the RCOG Archive

Records of the RCOG Archive, including correspondence relating to the establishment and development of the archive (1979-1988), discussion of record keeping policies and projects, the acquisition of material and use of the collections to write a College history, and participation of the College in online projects to promote archival holdings. The collection also includes copies of printed subject guides (1999).

The first College Archivist was appointed in 1985 at the instigation of the College Librarian and the Wellcome Institute to organise and list the archives of the College and deposits of private papers. The department is also responsible for records management and making recommendations on conservation needs; from 2008 it became involved in the electronic records management of the College. The College Archives originally came under the governance of the College Secretary's Office; in 2001 the Archives became part of a new Information Services department.

Permission is required from College Senior Management for external access to College records less than twenty years old.
