Scope and Content

Notarial transumpt of a decreet-arbitral made by David Meldrum, chief official of St Andrews, Gavin Dunbar, Dean of Moray, and others, in a dispute between the Prior and Convent of Pluscardyn, of the one part, and James Dowglass of Pettyndrech, of the other, respecting the erection by the latter of a mill within the bounds of the lands of Pettyndrech (which belong to him by inheritance) of the suit of the mill of Elgyn and other mill appertaining to it (which belong by right and custom to the Prior and Convent), the decision being against the said James; Alexander, late King of Scots, having granted his mill of Elgyn with all other mills belonging to it and their waters, ponds and multures to the said monastery.
