The Dramatic Society at Ashburne Hall was formed in October 1902. Plays took place annually and became significant social functions in the Hall, associated with the 'play-reading society'. The joint Ashburne-Hulme plays were established in 1944. Lees Hall also produced an independent annual play, continuing for some years after its merger with Ashburne Hall, but this was eventually abandoned in favour of a joint play in the Easter term (description from AHA/18/1/77).
This series contains papers relating to Ashburne Hall plays, including ephemera such as printed tickets, invitations and programmes, photographs, correspondence and production records.
