  • James Way (1804-84) was born at Morchard Bishop, Devon. He was converted by Ann Guest in about 1823 and entered the Bible Christian ministry in 1826, serving as President of Conference in 1847. In 1850 he offered himself for the work in Australia, and with his colleague James Rowe became the first Bible Christian missionary to be sent to the colony. He served as Missionary Secretary in 1848, General Superintendent of the Australian Church in 1856 and book steward between 1872 and 1875.
