Finished artwork for 'The Owl in the Barn', written and illustrated by Charlotte Hough (Faber & Faber, 1964). The file contains 12 black and white line drawings, including the frontispiece and title page illustrations.
All page numbers given refer to the first edition of the book. One illustration for the book, the headpiece illustration for chapter 4 which appears on page 38 of the book, is missing from the file. In most cases, several illustrations appear on a single sheet of paper, so it has not been possible to arrange the contents of the file into the exact order in which the illustrations appear in the book. The varying sizes and shapes of the items within the file would suggest that the illustrations were originally executed on much larger sheets of paper, with numerous illustrations appearing on each sheet, and these were subsequently cut up by the artist.
