Calcified disc

Scope and Content

Operation sketch covering C2-T1 showing a calcified disc. There is a smaller sketch in the top left corner of a lateral view of two of the vertebral bodies. C5 & C6, and their relation to the disc. Annotations on the back read "Manchester University patient's name 2.8.49" and "Radiol Oct '50 Reid + Tutton 50/10/13/12".

This drawing features as fig.19A&B in the publication H. Davies, R.G. Reid, and G.K. Tutton, 'Discussion on myelography', Proceedings of the Royal Society of Medicine, 1951, 44(10), pp.881-93. The caption in the article offers the following description "At the C5/6 level the cord is obviously humped backwards and looks paler than the rest. On the left side at this level, between the roots the bony bulge is apparent. Removal of such a lesion is virtually impossible".
