Scope and Content

A collection of material relating to Lucy Boston, collected by the textile artist Hilary Bourne, who was a longstanding friend. The collection comprises first editions of six of Lucy Boston's books and a copy of 'Lucy Boston Remembered', compiled by Diana Boston; 31 letters from Lucy Boston to Hilary Bourne; and various press cuttings, cards and photographs relating to Diana Boston and to The Manor, Hemmingford Grey, Boston's home and the setting for her Green Knowe books.

The collection has been appraised and all duplicate material removed.

Custodial History

Hilary Bourne gave the collection to Ditchling Museum circa 1997, and many of the items in the collection have been numbered with museum numbers from Ditchling Museum. The collection was subsequently sold at auction before being resold to Seven Stories in 2006 through Roger Gaskell Rare Books.
