Scope and Content

Scans of the following:

  • 1. Soviet passport stamps.
  • 2. Itinerary London – Rostov, October 1970.
  • 3. Passport registration stamp for Rostov with the 'wrong' expiry date (giving eleven months, rather than ten).
  • 4. Passport registration stamp for Moscow for exactly ten months.
  • 5, 6. Зачётная книжка (mark book) – with no marks!
  • 7, 8. Three identity documents: студенческий билет, пропуск (for the hostel) and удостоверение личности.
  • 9. Certificate issued at the end of the academic year, signed by the Rector and indicating a totally fictitious number of hours for the classes we attended.
  • 10. Various internal travel permits issued by the police.
  • 11. Материальный пропуск for two cases issued by MGU; Travel permit for Novgorod; Receipt for the hire of a bus from MGU (to travel to Zagorsk/Sergiev Posad); Instructions for putting on gloves.
  • 12. Certificate to show that Dunn has been vaccinated against typhoid (in Russian only); Rostov's one достопримечательность : the theatre built in the shape of a tractor.
  • 13, 14. Cholera is a dangerous disease!
  • 15. Letters sent by the Деканат to Tbilisi and Moscow Universities requesting that the group be given accommodation when we were on our travels.
  • 16. A report in one of the local newspapers; Пропуск for Rostov University Library; Monthly trolleybus ticket (постоянный, see footnote 19) for March 1971.
  • 17, 18. Invitations issued by embassy staff in Moscow over Christmas 1970.
