Administrative / Biographical History

The chancellor's peculiar jurisdiction extended over Acklam near Malton, North and South Anston, Firbeck, Handsworth, Laughton en le Morthen, Letwell with Gildingwells, Thorpe Salvin, Throapham St John, Wales and Wawne. The prebend of Laughton en le Morthen was annexed to the chancellorship by Archbishop Rotherham in 1484.
