Two quires (fos. 64-71,79-86) contain Giffard's register as bishop of Bath and Wells, to which entries relating to the York diocese have been added at a later date. DM Smith notes: "The volume is in considerable confusion but there was clearly some attempt made (albeit unsuccessful) to classify material by the five archdeaconries or by nature of business (liberationes, officiality, chapters (cathedral and collegiate), Howdenshire and Allertonshire peculiars, ordinations). The register is by no means a continuous record of the pontificate, only one entry being found between late 1272 and September 1274 (the period during which the archbishop was acting as one of the regents of the kingdom); the second part of the register (fos. 110-140) mainly covers the period 1274-76 and there appears to have been no later material registered."
