It would be useless for him to write to Mr Hamilton as she suggests, as he had written him to say that he could no longer support even a limited measure as that covered by the Conciliation Bill. Militancy had strengthened his misgivings about giving the vote to any woman. The writer himself deplores the militant policy which appeals to men's fears rather than to their reason.
