'The Custom of the Province of York in Personal Estates' paper manuscript, 13 fos. containing an account of the Custom of the Province of York in testamentary matters, together with examples of 13 cases and opinions illustrating the workings of the Custom [18th cent.]
The dated cases run from 1717 to 1728/9. Most refer to R.Gibson, probably Robert Gibson of Parkhouse, Lancs., barrister 1704, bencher of Gray's Inn 1728 but there are further references to N[icholas] Fazakerley (of Prescot, Lanes., barrister 1707, MP for Preston 1732-67,. Recorder of Preston 1742-67) and Henry Paley

The manuscript was purchased for the Borthwick Institute in September 1995.
