Video in MP4 format entitled ‘An interview with Frederick Jeacock, Flt Lt RAF/RCAF WW2’. This video is an interview with Flt Lt 56148 Frederick Jeacock, born in Cranleigh, Surrey in 1919. He joined the Royal Air Force in March 1939 and carried out his basic training at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, Yorkshire. His initial intention was to be a flight engineer but became a balloon operator and assigned to a mobile Squadron. In June 1940 he was stationed in Swansea, when he was involved in putting up the balloons in the Swansea Bay area. The balloons were mechanised in 1943 and as a result he completed an Engineers Course at RAF St Athan. He was then posted to the Canadian 431 Squadron as a Flight Engineer and flew in a Lancaster Mk 10 (Canadian) and Halifax Mk 3 between July and September 1944 completing 30 Operations. After his 30 Operational flights he became a Flight Engineer Instructor. He was promoted to the rank of Flight Lieutenant and was Station Adjutant at RAF Binbrook and RAF Loughlin, Western-Super-Mare. In 1950 he was flying in Lincolns with 7 Squadron.
