The biographical material in this sub-collection was found scattered across Sewell's papers. The programmes for cultural events were kept together, as were all of the photographs, and all of this material was brought together during the process of cataloguing. Some of the items pre-date Sewell and it is assumed that they were inherited from his mother, Mary Jessica Sewell, née Perkins (1900-1995).
