Correspondence from and to Coventry Patmore; 1844-1949

The first part of this series (Pt C 1-105) includes correspondence that can be divided into two sections. The first (Pt C 1-26) is correspondence between Coventry Patmore, his friends and acquaintances 1850-1895. The other (Pt C 27-105) is between Patmoreans including Frederick Page, Osbert Burdett and Professor Hewitt as well as the poet's friends Alice Meynell, Basil Champneys and Edmund Goose. Several pieces of the correspondence of his widow Harriet G. Patmore are also present.

Items numbered Pt C 106-108 have been arranged into three series: correspondence from Coventry Patmore (Pt C 106); correspondence to Coventry Patmore (Pt C 107); and miscellaneous items (Pt C 108).

Series within Pt C 1-105 reflect the original Nottingham University Accession Numbers the material was given. Items within series Pt C 106-108 were acquired by the University of Nottingham at various times from the 1990s and have been artificially arranged into three series. Itemswithin series are listed in date order.
