'Children's Parties, and Games for a Rainy Day'

Various draft manuscripts and typescripts of 'O What a Party!' by Ursula Moray Williams, and the ten short stories which made up a collection entitled 'Can We Act a Story?'. 'O What a Party!' and 'Can We Act a Story?' were initially submitted for publication as two separate books by Williams, but the publisher, Corgi, decided to amalgamate the two into one book, entitled 'Children's Parties, and Games for a Rainy Day', which was first published in 1972. The first half of the book, made up of the material from 'O What a Party!' provided guidance for parents on how to host various different 'theme' parties for different age groups, as well as suitable games to play on such occasions. The second half of the book was made up of the ten 'Can We Act a Story?' short stories, which were intended to be read aloud and then acted out by children. Some of the short stories which appear here were also published separately in various magazines, including the American magazine 'Cricket'.
