Finished artwork by Charlotte Hough for 'Time for a Story', an anthology of short stories and rhymes edited by Eileen Colwell. The file contains cover artwork, four large sheets of illustrations, one single illustration and a memo from Penguin Books Ltd, dated 1983, concerning the removal of the artwork from the Penguin archive and its return to the Charlotte Hough.
The contents of this file do not constitute a complete suite of illustrations for the book. The illustrations for the short stories 'The Bus That Wouldn't Go', by Margaret Law; 'The Hot Potato', by Donald Bisset; 'The Sky is Falling', traditional; 'To the Stars', by Vera Colwell; 'Chunky the China Pig', by Glenys Evans; 'Party Games'; and the rhyme 'Wee Willie Winkie' are all missing from the set. It is probable that all of these illustrations were on a single sheet of large paper, and the memo from Penguin Books [see CH/05/07] suggests this sheet was lost by the publisher prior to the return of the artwork return to Charlotte Hough.
