Administrative / Biographical History
ICS (Overseas) Ltd began as a subsidiary of ICS Ltd. Originally called ICS (Colonial) Ltd the name was changed to ICS (Overseas) Ltd in 1937. By 1981 it was a subsidiary of the Intertext Group Ltd and had branch operations in South Africa, East Africa (based in Kenya), Zimbabwe, Singapore and Ireland. Previously it had also operated in Burma, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Lebanon, Pakistan and Palestine. In addition, part of the operations of ICS (Overseas) Ltd conducted from the UK involved servicing students who were resident in other countries overseas. It also fully owned the subsidiaries ICS (Australasia) PTY Ltd and ICS (New Zealand) PTY Ltd. In 1982 along with The School of Accountancy (SOA) Ltd it became incorporated into one company as ICS Ltd. ICS (Australasia) PTY Ltd and ICS (New Zealand) PTY Ltd were to remain active.
