Scope and Content

Black and white photocopies of rough layouts and a small amount of correspondence relating to 'Down by the River', published in 1996 with illustrations by Caroline Binch. The layouts consist of one set of very early rough spreads (pp. 4-32) produced by the publisher to give Caroline Binch an idea of how much space would be available for illustrations, and one set of later layout spreads with rough illustrations by Caroline Binch. The correspondence includes a letter from Miriam Hodgson discussing the possibility of asking Caroline Binch to illustrate a new edition of 'Listen to this Story'. The file also includes two colour prints of Caroline Binch's illustrations for 'Down by the River', with a covering note from the publisher.

This file appears at the end of the catalogue because the contents were donated as part of the second accession of material from Grace Hallworth, after the first accession had been fully catalogued.
