Scope and Content

of William Searell, [Sygyn Fawr], Beddgelert who worked at Cwmorthin slate quarry and also for his father at the copper mines at Beddgelert. He describes his work, chapel, domestic chores including cooking, shopping and prices, farming work, horses and journeys. In 1845 he was working at the Union Foundry [Caernarfon] making Cors [Cores] and while in Caernarfon he attended the Wesleyan chapel and Llanbeblig church. Inscribed 'Philip M. Searell to William S. Searell, Beddgelert, Carnarvonshire 23rd September 1844'.
