Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Borough of Aberavon merged with Margam Urban District Council in 1921 to form the Borough of Port Talbot. Following local government reorganisation in 1974 boroughs and county boroughs ceased to exit, becoming district councils. Port Talbot became Afan District Council but successfully petitioned to become a borough.
