      • The railway station is about 15-20 minutes' walk away. The bus station is about 5-10 minutes' walk away. Both have taxi ranks if you do not wish to walk to the Civic Centre, and there are also buses from the railway station to the city centre. If you are coming by car, follow signs to the Civic Centre from Oystermouth Road. There is visitor parking on the east (i.e. the marina) side of the building. There is also a separate parking area here for disabled visitors, the parking on the upper level providing a level access around the building to the front entrance.

    • Advance Orders
      • Documents can be ordered in advance or on the day. We will do our best to produce the documents you need straight away, well within our target time of 20 minutes. However, we are unable to produce documents between 1 and 2pm. If you would like to look at documents during this period, please ensure that you order them by 12.45. The latest time for ordering documents is 4.30pm (4.45 on Tuesdays). Documents need to be returned by 4.45 (6.45 on Tuesdays).

    • Photocopying Services
      • Staff can provide photocopies for you, within copyright guidelines and providing this does not damage the document.       • Our Family History Centre is a specially designated room with a variety of genealogical sources on offer. There are 10 computers, with access to the internet. Advance booking is advisable.
      • We have a free subscription to the Ancestry and FindMyPast websites
      • There is a wealth of material on microfiche and microfilm, including the General Register Office birth, marriage and death indexes, local census returns, indexes of wills, land tax returns and the Cambrian newspaper.

      • All public areas of the Civic Centre are fully accessible to wheelchairs. Assistance dogs are welcome. Accessible toilet facilities are available.

      • We collect documents, maps, photographs, film and sound recordings relating to all aspects of the history of West Glamorgan.
