Scope and Content

Black and white portrait photograph of Mrs Mary Beatrice Crowle in the uniform of a Red Cross nurse of the First World War, fading to white at the edges. Pasted onto a page in the scrapbook. [A note records that Mrs Crowle served in the Devon and Plymouth branches of the Red Cross during the First World War]

Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements

Very slightly warped. Cut down by hand leaving jagged edges. Production method: gelatin silver print, vignetted in the process. Probably a photographic reproduction of an earlier photograph.
