Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The mission was to study the biology and geological history of Lakes Baringo and Rudolf in the East African Rift Valley and Lakes Edward and George in the West African Rift Valley.
Members of the expedition included: Dr Barton Worthington (Leader / Zoologist) Mrs Stella Worthington (Botanist); Vivian Fuchs (Geologist); Leonard Beadle (Biologist); and Richard Dent (Fish Warden of Kenya).
Arrangement
The records had been originally re-boxed during the 1990s and all original order was lost. The series has therefore been artificially arranged into 2 sub-series to reflect the type of records retained for each expedition- those created on the expedition (notebooks) and those relating to specimens and/or created after the expedition (papers, specimen cards and notes).
