Records of H. M. Customs and Excise, Swansea, 1851-1968, including collectors' books, 1934-1953; declarations of ownership of the ship Pioneer, 1965-1968; bonds for the performance of conditions and payment of duties by railway companies, 1851-1869; correspondence, 1864-1963.

HM Customs and Excise are responsible for the collection of duties payable to the Crown, on the import and export of goods and on their manufacture. By the 19th century collection of duties was the responsibility of the Board of Custom and the Board of Excise (later becoming the Board of Inland Revenue). The two boards were amalgamated into the Board of Customs and Excise in 1909, responsible for administering Her Majesty's Customs and Excise. H. M. Customs and Excise have an office in Swansea.
