Administrative History The firm, which operated the Willington Wire Rope Works at Willington Quay, Gateshead, was acquired by Robert Hood Haggie in the mid-nineteenth century and incorporated in 1900. It purchased Dixon Corbitt of Gateshead (see DY/BRI/11) in 1946, and became part of British Ropes in 1959
