Scope and Content

The volumes and letters listed here are chiefly those of Lady Charlotte Florentia Clive (born 1787), second daughter of the 1st Earl of Powis and from 1817 the wife of Hugh, 3rd Duke of Northumberland. She accompanied her husband to Ireland when he was appointed Lord Lieutenant in 1829 and in 1830 was herself appointed governess to Princess Victoria. She died in 1866.

Also included are some letters of her sister, Lady Henrietta Williams Wynn, and some copy material relating to Princess Victoria's education.
