Scope and Content

In 1900 the Board of Education closed Crouch Street British Schools (which had been founded in 1839) in Banbury, so to accommodate more than 500 children, the Wesleyans built an undenominational school instead, and in 1902 opened the Dashwood Road Schools. In 1905 the schools became controlled by Banbury Borough Council, which had become the Local Education Authority for the town in 1902
