Scope and Content

The correspondence in this series principally concerns the judging of entrants to the 1962 Newdigate Prize, the Chancellor's English Essay Prize and the Sacred Prize Poem, duties which fell on Graves in his capacity as Professor of Poetry (1961-1966). The series also contains some administrative correspondence and a bundle of telegrams congratulating Graves on his election.

Arrangement

Material arranged in approximate chronological order, although the congratulatory telegrams have been placed at the end of the series for administrative reasons.

This refers to the arrangement of the papers in Robert Graves’ study before they were transferred to the College.
