Scope and Content

This series contains correspondence from members of the public responding to Graves's various publications on the religious and mythological significance of hallucinogenic mushrooms (mainly amanita muscaria). It also appears to include responses to enquiries put by Graves to experts in related fields. The series also contains a [translation of?] an article about Graves and mushrooms, and the first page of an article about hallucinogens.

Note

Canelluñ Collection number: CC0459

This refers to the arrangement of the papers in Robert Graves’ study before they were transferred to the College.

Custodial History

This series of correspondence, arranged alphabetically by corresondent, was found bundled together with the correspondence of the mycologist Gordon Wasson (RG/J/Wasson). As it formed no part of his correspondence it has been treated as a separate series during cataloguing. Four letters which have no association with mushrooms, apparently placed here in error, have been removed (from Cooke, Home, Robertson and Villieres-Stuart).
