Scope and Content

Correspondence of William Waugh, relating to research into Charnley’s association with medical professional bodies and societies, including: the Hip Society, the Medical Research Council, the Royal College of Surgeons in England and The Royal Society.

There is a proposal for the construction of the Centre for Hip Surgery and Research in Orthopaedic Biomechanics at Wrightington Hospital by Charnley, minutes of meetings, an excerpt on Charnley from Lives of the Fellows by the Royal College of Surgeons, and a copy of the Statutes of The Royal Society.

Also included is correspondence with Action Research for the Crippled Child, and relating to Charnley’s receipt of the Harding Award.
