Scope and Content

Steptoe & Son was a BBC television comedy series starring Wilfred Brambell and Harry H. Corbett, and written by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. The programme was originally broadcast between 1962 and 1965. The series began again in 1970 and ran until 1974.

Brambell played Albert Steptoe, proprietor of a rag and bone business in Oil Drum Lane, a fictional London street in Shepherd's Bush. Corbett played his son, Harold who had greater aspirations than dealing with scrap.
