Administrative / Biographical History

Hugh Ferguson was born 1912  in Killean Parish, Argyll & Bute, Scotland. He matriculated into the science faculty at the University of Glasgow , Scotland, in 1930  . In his first year he studied Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Physics. His second year subjects were Agriculture, Agricultural Botany, Agricultural Chemistry, Agricultural Zoology, and Geology. In his third and fourth years In his third and fourth years he took the honours course in Agricultural Botany, which included the study of Plant Physiology; Mycology and Plant Pathology; Ecology; Systematic Botany; Advanced Agricultural Botany; Plant Genetics; and Economic Botany. He graduated B.Sc. (Agric.) with first class Honours in Pure Botany and Agricultural Botany in 1934  .
