Scope and Content

Under the Government Evacuation Scheme, district councils were requried to make provision for the accommodation of sick evacuees. Witney UDC worked with Witney Rural District Council to provide hospital, semi-hospital and sick bay accommodation. The Clinic at 117 Corn Street was set up in October 1939 to treat 'difficult cases'. The UDC also set up No 4 and No 7 Leys Villas for the treatment of children with minor infectious diseases.
