Also in the College archive (BBK 13) - photographs of the Breams Building Library (1921), bomb damage to the Greystoke Place Library (1941), the Malet Street Library (1970s-2000s) and Gresse Street Library (1970s). Most of these have been digitised.

Administrative / Biographical History
The establishment of a library was one of the founding aims of the the London Mechanics Institute, and there has been a Library in each of the main Birkbeck buildings. In 1934, the reference library moved from the Breams Building to Greystoke Place and was subsequently destroyed by fire during the Blitz in 1941.
