Photograph album relating to Sir William Jenkins, mayor of Swansea 1947-1949. The album relates mainly to a voyage on the SS Arandora Star taken by William Jenkins to the Canary Islands, Gambia, Sierra Leone and Portugal. Originally included loose within the album were the following photographs: dignitaries (all named) at the Mansion House, Swansea, including the Duke and Duchess of York, October 1926; visit of Mr H. Gordon Selfridge to Swansea, with D. J. Bassett, mayor, 4 Mar. 1927; David Lloyd George with Lady Jenkins at the Eisteddfod, 1927; visit of David Lloyd George to ?the Mansion House, Swansea; with Lord Kilmuir, Lord Chancellor, n.d.; dignitaries (including Sir William Jenkins) at the visit of HRH the Duchess of Kent to Swansea Guildhall, 29 Oct. 1948; visit of Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery to Swansea, 23 June 1948; the mayor and mayoress greeting the Duke of Gloucester outside the Guildhall, 5 Apr. 1949; Field Marshall Viscount Montgomery and Sir William Jenkins at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, Swansea Airport, 1949; principal guests at the Anglo-French ball, 1 Apr. 1955; unveiling of his portrait at Swansea Guildhall; Royal National Lifeboat (Swansea and Mumbles Branches) annual meeting 1966.
