Administrative / Biographical History

The Jones family headed by John (Jack) and Ellen comprised of Evan C. b 1892/3, Johnnie b 1893/4, Annie b 1895 June 21st, Griffith b 1897/8 and Kate (Catherine) b 1899/1900. All were born in Llantrisant except Johnnie who was born in Llecheynfarwy. In 1901 the family were living at Pen porth mawr, Llantrisant. Father John was a shepherd on a farm and had been born in 1863/4 at Llandyfrydog and mother Ellen at Llanbabo in 1873/4. By 1911 the family had been joined by William b 1905/6 and were living at Ty Canol, Carmel, Llantrisant. By 1939 only Ellen, Griffith and William were left at that address. Also in 1939 Annie, unmarried, was living as housekeeper with Richard Matthews at Bryn Uchaf, Llaneilian. He died in 1941 and Annie is recorded as living there on her own in 1947. Later, in 1962, Bryn Uchaf is occupied by William Jones and Sarah M. Jones.
