Papers relating to the schooner Claudia of Newport, comprising 'wear and tear' account books and account books of port and harbour duties, victuals, crew's wages, moneys advanced to the crew, equipment, etc, 1845-9 and 1868-75 (15/1-4); receipted bills, 1838-76, similar to nos 13/1-66 (16/1-92); correspondence, 1874-9, relating to the fate of her cargo when she was stranded off Londonderry and whether she should be broken up or not (17/1-8); and miscellaneous documents, 1841-74, including certificate of seaworthiness, 1844 (18/3), a minute of protest against the sea, 1849 (18/4), a transcript, 1873, of her registration in 1836 (18/5), surveys for repairs undertaken at Belfast and Glasgow, 1873-4 (18/6-8) and a leather wallet of John Havard (d 1849), captain of the Claudia (18/9).
