Scope and Content

There is an extensive collection of

papers on the church fabric of Oxford

St. Martin, starting from a note of the

sale of church good in the 1560s. Other

papers include material on the church

clock, its bells, its organ and its

tower, as well as on the building of the

new church in the 1820s and its sale and

demolition in 1896. There are also some

plans of the seating arrangements in the

new church in PAR207/11/Y3.

Other material on church fabric may be

found at PAR207/2/A1/1-3, PAR207/2/A2/1, PAR207/4/A1/1 and PAR207/4/F1/1 & 3. There is also much

relevant material amongst the

large collection of bills at PAR207/4/F3.

Several inventories of church goods are

to be found at PAR207/4/F1/1 fols. 11,

21 and 32 (1547, 1552 and 1560), PAR207/4/F2/1 fol. 76v rev. (1736), PAR207/4/F2/2 fol. 208 rev. (1786-1840),

and PAR207/4/F2/3 end (1863)
