Scope and Content

These volumes appear to be official library copies of Sims's dramatic works. A small number of the volumes have a letter pasted in supplying the name and address of Sims to return them to, indicating that they were intended to be loaned out. They all have similar bindings, with tooled leather spines. Inside they are typescript in blue ink but characters and actions are underlined in red ink and some include detailed stage directions for particular scenes. Many bear the stamp of "Mrs Marshall's Type Writing Office, 126 Strand", where the volumes were typed. The spines of the volumes state which genre Sims categorized his works into, namely: Drama, Comic Opera, Musical Sketch and Burlesque; the volumes appear to be colour-coded.
