Scope and Content

Notebook, 1823-1860 (watermark 18[?2]1), of Henry Jones, a farmer at Penrhôs, Llanfynydd, Carmarthenshire, containing mostly medicinal recipes (ff. 2, 6-8, 9 verso-10 verso, 13, 14, 15 verso-18, 19 verso-24, 25 verso) and veterinary recipes (ff. 1 recto-verso, 3 recto-verso, 5, 8 verso-9, 11-12 verso, 13 verso-14, 15, 21 verso).
Also included are recipes for yeast (ff. 24 verso-25 verso), a few religious notes (ff. 5 verso-6), and notes, dated 21 January 1823, relating to sword exercise, closely corresponding to the Adjutant-General's Office, Regulations and Instructions for the Cavalry Sword Exercise (London, 1819), p. 89 (ff. 18 verso-19).
