i. 19 April 1842 - Malacca - Employment in Afghanistan caused pecuniary difficulties. Asks (W.P.) to negotiate for disposal of his collections from Bengal, Assam, Khasiya Hills, Himalaya and Afghanistan. c. 8000 species. malayan plants, etc. "keeping my name quite out of the light."
