Scope and Content

Records of the National Army Museum Director, including correspondence files, papers regarding the management of out stations and liaison with regimental museums and the Ministry of Defence, and relations with the Army Museum's Ogilby Trust, together with correspondence from Field Marshal Sir Gerald Templer to the Museum Director.

Administrative / Biographical History

The first Director of the National Army Museum was appointed following the formal establishment of the Museum by Royal Charter in April 1960. Previous to this, a Curator had managed the fledgling museum which was located at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Curators and Directors of the National Army Museum:
