Sixteen holograph pages, in pencil and ink, being part of an account by William Holman Hunt of his experiences during his first visit to the Near East in 1854, including a description of 'a second journey I am making to the Southern end of the Dead Sea'. Precise dates within the year are lacking but the month was probably October (cf. The Contemporary Review, xlix (January-June 1886), 830). Folios 1-4v and folios 5-8v provide a continuous narrative with pages missing between folios 4v and 5.
