Scope and Content

Sixteen holograph pages, in pencil and ink, being part of an account by William Holman Hunt of his experiences during his first visit to the Near East in 1854, including a description of 'a second journey I am making to the Southern end of the Dead Sea'. Precise dates within the year are lacking but the month was probably October (cf. The Contemporary Review, xlix (January-June 1886), 830). Folios 1-4v and folios 5-8v provide a continuous narrative with pages missing between folios 4v and 5.
