Administrative / Biographical History

Llandeilo Talybont is an ancient parish. The original church dedicated to St Teilo was replaced as the parish church by another church built in Pontarddulais in the 19th century and dedicated also to St Teilo. The old church was used occasionally for services. It has since been removed to the Museum of Welsh Life in St Fagan's, following the discovery of wall paintings. The other church in the parish is St Michael and All Angels, Pontarddulais. The southern part of the parish became the parish of Gorseinon in the early 20th century, and another part including Pontlliw became part of Penlle'rgaer parish.
