Administrative / Biographical History

The concept of the University of the Third Age (U3A) began in France in 1973 and reached Britain in 1982. Its aim is to encourage continuing education among mainly retired people. The Swansea Branch of the University of the Third Age was established in 1988 and held its inaugural meeting at Townhill Community Centre on 12 December of that year. It organises social and learning events in the Swansea area.
