Administrative / Biographical History

Henry Langton Brackenbury (1868-1920), of Thorpe Hall, Louth, Lincolnshire, married Florence Mills, who died in 1932. Among their children was Lt.-Col. Robert Henry Langton Brackenbury (1903-1979), who married Eleanor Trewlove Springman (1907-1971). Robert and Eleanor had various children including Pauline Trewlove Brackenbury (d 2014), who married Thomas John Ashton, 3rd Baron Ashton of Hyde, and Robert (Robin) Brackenbury (1929-), who married Elizabeth Katherine Mary Matheson.

Elizabeth Matheson was a descendant of the 3rd Earl Manvers. Elizabeth and Robin Brackenbury bought Holme Pierrepont Hall, the ancestral home of the Pierrepont family, after the death of her cousin Sybil Argles, née Pierrepont, daughter of the 5th Earl Manvers, in 1968.
