Administrative / Biographical History
John Oakley (died c. 1712) was an alderman of the county borough of Carmarthen. He was succeeded by his grandson, John Oakley (fl. 1712-1734). They had dealings with the Rev. Henry Rogers (fl. 1708-1734), rector of Trefilan and later Llanfihangel Ystrad parishes, Cardiganshire. William Evans (died c. 1833) of Towy Castle was vicar of Llandyfaelog and in 1794 married Mary Lewis, daughter of Rees and Elizabeth Lewis of Cwmcloch, Tre-lech a'r Betws. Towy Castle was inherited by his grandson, William Rees Evans (fl. [1820]-1852), who later moved to Cwmcloch.
