YDFNS put a great deal of effort into its biological recording, clearly seeing itself as a serious scientific society – at least after the amalgamation of 1894. It was after this date that special volumes were provided for recorders – previously their annual reports were included in the minutes of the annual meetings (YDFNS 2). The Society also engaged, in the second half of the 20th century, in particular projects in particular areas.
